Cirrus clouds
are thin, wispy clouds composed of ice
crystals, usually forming above 20,000 feet.
Normally they occur in
and usually "point" to fair weather. Cirrus clouds are thin because they form in the higher levels of the atmosphere where little water vapor is present. If there are many cirrus clouds in the sky it may be a sign that a frontal system or upper air disturbance is approaching. |
